Book Byte #159 "The Creative Thinking Handbook" by Chris Griffiths
Your Step-by-Step Guide to Problem Solving in Business
📣 Curious Quote from the Author
“As with a parachute, if your mind is kept closed when you're trying to be innovative, sooner rather than later you'll come crashing down. To open your mind, you need to know what locks are on it. An open mind, free of any locks, is fundamental to creativity, particularly at the beginning of ideation.”
📚 Cognition of the Book’s Big Idea:
Although it may seem like a skill that only some people possess, everybody can learn to be more creative. You can acquire the abilities to approach any problem creatively and successfully by learning how to think differently and going through the entire process from comprehension to implementation.
Take advantage of your most productive hours.
Are you full of energy and enthusiasm when you wake up? Or is it in the afternoon or early evening when you accomplish the most work? For a week or two, observe when you are most focused and productive. Then, begin utilizing these periods to work on creative things.
🛠️Fixing the Tech Industry
Being Innovative is not about thinking up new ideas, it’s about willing an idea into reality through sheer force of will.
The only innovations that mattered were ones that changed the world for the better, but change is the key component there. If you built an app that can be replicated within a spreadsheet, it’s not an innovation.
